Tesco, Asda, M&S, Sainsbury’s opening times and when to avoid queues

Tesco, Asda, Sainsbury's and Marks & Spencer are among the supermarkets who have had to adapt during the pandemic. These are the best times to shop as social distancing rules continue to relax.

However, customers could still beat the crowds by avoiding the shops at certain times of the day.

Google data shows the busiest and quietest times for customers to stop by.

This may vary depending on the size of the store and area where it is based.

Tesco

Opening times in most stores are normal which means customers can stop by whenever is best for them.

DON'T MISS

The supermarket is the quietest before 11am and after 8pm, according to the data.

Customers should avoid shopping after 11am on a Saturday as this is the busiest time.

Asda

In the early days of the coronavirus lockdown, the supermarket giant reduced its opening hours.

It has now extended times with most stores now open between 7am and 12am.

Sainsbury's

Sainsbury's also reduced shopping hours when the pandemic first began.

However, these have since been extended and are mostly back to normal.

Its website states: “To reduce queuing times both inside and outside our stores we have been extending our opening hours.

“The majority of our supermarkets are now open from 07.00 to 22.00 and we encourage you to visit our stores throughout the day to avoid queues when stores open in the morning.”

Customers wanting a quiet shop should visit the store midweek as it is busiest on a Saturday.
