Sophie Countess of Wessex: Body language reveals why she excelled in Royal Family

Sophie, Countess of Wessex, is the daughter-in-law of Queen Elizabeth II, 93, and the wife of Prince Edward. The couple tied the knot in 1999 and the Countess became a full-time working member of the Royal Family. She is often out performing royal duties and is thought to have a close relationship with her mother-in-law, the Queen, 93. Over the years, her importance in the family has grown and her body language could reveal why she has excelled in her royal role.

When Sophie married into the family, she managed to balance being in the public eye with living a quiet life, body language expert, Judi James, explained.

She said: “When Sophie married Edward she was hailed as the new Diana, but what followed looked like a masterclass in hunkering in as the soap-opera-free royal bride who managed to be a stabilising influence on her husband while keeping press and royal fan attention to a minimum.”

By doing this, Sophie became a popular royal while forming a close bond with the Queen.

“Sophie is also said to be a close ally of her mother-in-law the Queen,” Judi explained.

“In terms of her body language she tends to blend some of the signals of the kind of laid-back calm and fun that we get from Zara with the stoic, deft formality of the Queen herself.

“The Queen’s body language with Sophie always suggests her daughter-in-law is a bit of a confidante, with Sophie’s relaxed, constantly calm and upbeat demeanor seeming to allow the Queen to relax more in her company, too.”

By successfully balancing her private life with work, the royal managed to establish herself as an ally who could guide younger royals.

Not only has she taken to royal life, Sophie is from an ordinary background which is something she has in common with other royals.

When at royal events with Kate Middleton, their body language has shown why Sophie has been a reassuring force for Kate.

Judi explained: “This attitude must have made her the perfect royal wife to welcome and induct Kate into the Royal Family, especially in the face of William’s horror of bringing Kate into the same circus that he watched his mother suffer.”

As well as helping Kate, it is thought the Queen wanted Sophie to be an ally for Meghan Markle when she married Prince Harry in 2018.

Judi said: “Sophie always looks like the ‘no fuss’ royal and her long-term marriage to the royal prince who once seemed the least likely to settle down after some fickle career choices suggests she’s a great stabilising influence and might make the perfect royal mentor for Meghan.”

Sophie and Kate are both members of the Royal Family and their star signs reveal why they could have a trusting relationship
