Royal news: Princess Charlotte’s subtle hairstyle swap at Trooping the Colour | Royal | News

The four-year-old, second child to Prince William and the Duchess of Cambridge, was pictured waving from Buckingham Palace during the ceremony. Her hair was pulled back from the top of her face with a blue bow at the top of the head. By the time she emerged at the top of the balcony to watch over the RAF flypast, her hairstyle had changed up.

The bow was now being used to fasten her braids to meet at the back of her head.

Kate is likely to be behind the style switch up.

During a Royal outing to Blackpool, where Kate and William visited a park that had been converted from a place frequented by drug users to a family-friendly, William told a resident Dads 4 Life member: “Never try to do a ponytail! Nightmare!”

Wife Kate asked: “Have you tried to do a plait [braid]? It’s the weaving…really hard.”

Prince William joked in response: “I can do [Charlotte’s] ponytail, but that’s about it as I don’t have enough hair to practice on!”

The Trooping the Colour is held annually in June.

It is held to mark the monarch’s official birthday.

It is always held on a Saturday at Horse Guard’s Parade.

Edward VII started the tradition of holding it June, due to the weather in November, where his birthday actually is.

Queen Elizabeth II’s actual birthday is in April.

This year’s event marked Meghan Markle’s first public appearance since the birth of Archie Harrison, the first child of Prince Harry.

Charlotte has one older brother, Prince George and one younger brother, Prince Louis.
