Little Mix: ‘We thought we were DROPPED’ – THIS is the moment that SAVED their career | Music | Entertainment

The X Factor-winning band – Perrie Edwards, Jade Thirlwall, Jesy Nelson and Leigh-Anne Pinnock – were formed and shot to fame back in 2011, and have since become one of the country’s biggest music acts. But it hasn’t been entirely smooth sailing: in fact, in a new interview, Pinnock has revealed a moment when the group feared it was all over.

Their second album, 2013’s Salute, was a critical success – spawning acclaimed hits such as Move and Salute.

But commercially, it didn’t quite sell as well as its predecessor – 2012’s DNA.

And when they then had to get to work on their third record, they feared the music wasn’t good enough to save them from being let go by label execs.

“After our second album, we started writing the third and then it wasn’t going right — it was just not good enough,” Pinnock told Bustle.

“It didn’t go together. It wasn’t what we wanted and then we had to scrap it all.

“At that moment, we actually thought that we were going to get dropped.

“We didn’t think that we were going to keep going. It was horrible. It was a horrible feeling.”

All it took was one song to completely save everything.

“Then we got Black Magic,” she added. “That was the turning point.

“It saved our career.”

Indeed, Black Magic gave the band their third number one, and it also remains their highest-charting single in the US.

This week the group return with a new single called Bounce Back; their first release on RCA Records since parting ways with Syco.

Bounce Back by Little Mix is out on Friday.
