East Acton fire: Huge blaze at west London flats – 40 firefighters on the scene | UK | News


Six fire engines and 40 firefighters have stormed to the scene in west London where a flat on the fifth floor of a six storey flat is engulfed by flames. Dramatic images show black plumes of smoke billowing from a flat in Bromyard Avenue. The cause of the fire is currently unknown. Fire crews were alerted to the fire at 11.48am.  Fire crews from Acton, Hammersmith, Chiswick, Ealing and surrounding fire stations are at the scene.

A London Fire Brigade spokesman said they recieved 27 calls alerting them to the blaze. 

A statement said: “Six fire engines and around 40 firefighters have been called to a fire at a flat on Bromyard Avenue in Acton.

“Part of a five-roomed flat on the fifth floor of a six storey block is alight.

“The Brigade’s 999 Control Officers have taken 27 calls to the fire.

“The Brigade was called at 1148. Fire crews from Acton, Hammersmith, Chiswick, Ealing and surrounding fire stations are at the scene.

“The cause of the fire is not known at this stage.”
